These sites are free to use and will help you narrow down the aid that will best suit you as a student.
Third, get in contact with your financial aid office or academic department. These are offices designed to assist you in finding the aid you need. The academic department will be able to more specifically help those of you who’ve narrowed down your major, while the financial aid office will give you a rather general picture of what scholarships you may qualify for, but they are very knowledgeable about grants.
Fourth, go ahead and fill out a Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) when you get the chance. If you’re afraid you don’t have what it takes to qualify for some of the better paying scholarships out there it doesn’t mean that you’re out of luck. Aid is out there for families in need, and filling out applications like these will show you if you qualify for government college grants like the Pell grant, which helps out students from disadvantaged homes or financially distraught areas.
And last, be active! The best way to qualify for scholarships and grants is to show the world you deserve them! This may mean simply joining a club that interests you, or simply taking harder classes in an area that you excel in. Doing so will not only prove to those offering private grants that you have what it takes, but likely it will be a lot of fun! Pick something you enjoy and do your best in it; you never know how it may lead you to success!
