This course explores e-commerce. Students will learn both non-technical and technical approaches; they will study online and traditional commerce. Topics additionally covered include business solutions for any size business. Students will examine various approaches to electronic commerce. Some of the course topics to be covered also include payment systems, security, tools and technologies, ethical and legal considerations.

Students will receive a broad overview on e-commerce. The course looks at the concepts and issues of creating an e-commerce website and of doing business on the Internet and shows the process to follow in developing a small site.

This course also provides information on how to plan for an online business and provides information on threats to secure electronic commerce and guidelines for implementing security in an e-commerce website. Participants will learn how to implement security on your site.

Course Objectives

  • By the end of this course, students will be able to analyze business requirements and identify which technologies are appropriate for implementation of a given business solution. Participants will integrate a commerce site with an existing website, enable a commerce site with an existing website and establish mechanisms for updating content on a website. They will also control and administer user access to a commerce site and fix any errors.
