Nearly all organizations are concerned with accounting to some extent, so a professional bachelor’s degree in accounting is a great way to get a useful education in principles of finance, business, and economics. Accounting work will require licensure as a Certified Public Accountant (CPA) which students will be prepared to undergo during the program. Knowledge of taxation, business regulations, financial statements, and proper financial formalism and concepts will all be imparted during the degree. Students may also learn the principals involved in auditing, which is a process by which business activities are analyzed so as to find any problems or room for improvement.
As long as taxes and proper financial planning are needed, accountants will be in demand. With a bachelor’s degree in professional accounting, graduates will be prepared to earn the proper licenses and enter the work force as accountants at either for-profit, non-profit, or government institutions. When just entering the field, accountants can earn an average of $45,000 a year, but significantly more is possible once accountants have established experience and positions in the working world. Additionally, accountancy is a great opportunity to go into business for oneself by offering tax services or financial planning on a contract basis.
