Today, more students are choosing to attend college online and in-person as the best way to start their higher education. It’s very common for people with Associate Degrees to transfer to a four-year university following graduation in order to complete their Bachelor’s Degree. For students who know they want to seek a two-year degree, but who are unsure of what their major should be, an Associate Degree in General Studies may be a great way to go. An Associate in General Studies will generally take about two years to complete if a student is enrolled on a full-time basis. Some schools even offer accelerated programs. Often, General Studies Associate Degrees are very flexible because students can pick and choose from numerous courses in a variety of subjects to complete the degree requirement. By having flexible and varied course options, students may find themselves exposed to several different areas of interest, which may help in choosing a major once they transfer to a four-year university. With an Associate in General Studies, students can expect to take classes in mathematics, literature, communications, social and behavioral sciences, and humanities and fine arts. Students who graduate with an Associate in General Studies will be well-rounded individuals, ready for work in a professional environment or continuing their post-secondary education.
