Associate of Applied Science in Business Administration/Management

There are many skills that go into being a good manager; for instance, you must be able to motivate your team while at the same time have the ability to communicate effectively with upper management. At many companies developing strategies, creating policies, and maintaining budgets are all included in a manager’s job description. In addition, critical thinking, problem solving and reasoning skills are very important for effective management. Just as critical, however, is confidence – you must have the confidence in these skills in order to be able to use them. An Associate of Applied Science in Business Administration/Management degree may help you to learn these skills, as well as gain the confidence to use them.

In this two year degree, students may have the option to take courses that discuss important business topics like how to set up and operate a small business and what laws you may need to be aware of in doing so. Another possible topic that may be discussed is different managerial styles and how to develop your own to motivate and lead your team toward being more productive and efficient. Personal skills like time management, goal setting, communication, and human relations will also likely be taught.
