An Associate of Business Administration in Accounting is a two year degree program that emphasizes business management, economics, finance, human resources, and accounting principles. Students will learn about federal income tax law, financial accounting for partnerships and corporations, and payroll and cost accounting. Software applications, business ethics and law, and organizational techniques are expounded upon and students enhance skills they will take with them to their future workplaces upon graduation. Coursework focuses on numerous subjects such as general business management in addition to accounting and liberal arts classes. Critical thinking is stressed along with problem solving as students overcome the challenges that are presented to them in their studies. Often times, projects are assigned in which students work with their peers to strengthen leadership skills and utilize effective communication. Students must be able to write clearly and in some cases be comfortable with some public speaking. Students who are procuring an Associate of Business Administration in Accounting can look forward to future employment in entry level jobs like tax auditor, office manager, administrative assistant, or customer service representative. Obtaining a degree online or on-campus is up to the individual student and many people further their educations after receiving their associate degrees by acquiring their bachelor’s in related fields.
