There are many degrees with skills that are transferable to other disciplines. For example, liberal studies involves learning effective communication skills, writing, analysis, critical thinking, and reading comprehension, all of which are useful when studying organizational management. Some universities enable students that have earned credits in liberal studies programs to transfer much of their experience to a bachelor of arts in organizational management. The degree program then follows three parts. There are introductory courses, major requirements, and an optional specialization. The major requirements will involve courses that deal with organization principles, group dynamics, strategic planning, and leadership techniques. Specializations then allow students to learn specific skills within the degree such as human resources management, logistics management, project management, public administration, and sports and recreation management.
Organizational management studies provide a firm foundation in communications and in structured organization for achieving goals, both of which are useful for careers such as sales or project management. Both careers also require dealing with people well, and working in team environments. As a manager, students will be able to utilize the leadership skills learned from the degree as well as practice many organizational techniques. Careers in the public sector in government are also viable options, as structured management techniques can also come in handy within government operations.
