Bachelor of Art in Org Mgmt-Recreation

Recreation is an important part of our society, and the recreation industry is full of its own customs, regulations, business operations, and principles. A bachelor’s degree in organizational management with a specialization in recreation will prepare students with the knowledge that is necessary to succeed within the recreation and hospitality industry, which includes working in restaurants, catering businesses, hotels, resorts, gambling, theme parks, and just about any business that provides entertainment to its customers. A common issue among entertainment venues is safe food handling and preparation, so many courses will instruct students on proper guidelines, regulations, and safety measures to prepare and serve food properly. Students will also learn the business organization principles involved in the entertainment industry both from a leadership and a financial perspective.

Any job within the recreation or entertainment industry will be a great choice for those with a specialization in recreation degree. The specific recreation aspects to the degree will prepare graduates to pursue work in hotels, restaurants, wedding planning, and many other industries. The business and management side to the degree will help graduates to take on leadership roles in many of those same industries as restaurant managers, hotel managers, or as a managers and business owners for entrepreneurial ventures. Since the degree will also help instruct students on how to treat clients, customer service jobs are also a great career avenue.
