Bachelor of Arts in Human Resources

The workplace is a complex and dynamic place with all the different personalities that make a successful business. It is also a highly regulated place with every state having slightly different labor laws in addition to the federally mandated ones. So who is responsible for making sure that a company’s many employees work together in a safe and respectful work environment? The human resources department has evolved to do just that. At small companies this may just be one human resources manager, but in larger corporations there may be one or more human resources departments with many professionals each responsible for a different aspect of human resources. The recruiting and hiring process, managing and communicating to employees about company benefits, processing leave requests, and mediating employee arguments are all tasks that may be listed in a human resources job description.

As you can see human resources is a blending of different disciplines like business, law and behavioral science. It is because of this that the Bachelor of Arts in Human Resources degree program’s curriculum often includes courses on all of these topics. For instance, you may be required to take a business course on management and a psychology course on organizational development.
