A Bachelor of Business Administration – Supply Chain Management is a highly specialized, technical business degree. Supply chain managers help corporations, governments, NGO and non-profit organizations manage logistical issues such as shipping, inventory control, cost management, and product distribution. People who like working in an environment that requires attention to detail and multi-tasking duties while organizing and forecasting future needs, may be well suited to work in supply chain management. Most programs require a minimum GPA for admission, because a career in supply chain management and logistics is one that requires a high attention to detail and self-discipline and is very demanding. Corporations and other organizations rely on their supply chain managers to control costs while making sure that products and supplies are shipped on time, within budget, while making sure that safety is a top priority. Supply chain and logistics managers carry heavy responsibilities and must be able to think ahead and to develop innovative solutions to global issues. Supply chain managers must be analytical thinkers who can consider solutions that may seem out of the ordinary. Many programs require an internship for graduation with a partnered corporation or organization. Frequently, programs also have hands on practicum classes so that students can gain additional experience in this complex field.
