Bachelor of Fine Arts in Advertising and Design

A Bachelor of Fine Arts in Advertising and Design is a four-year degree program that emphasizes the integration of technology, marketing, business practices, and art within the field of graphic design and advertising. Students will be educated in concepts such as public relations copywriting, web design, advertising, brand planning, and campaign development so that they can advance their manual and digital design skills. Students take coursework in color theory, design, typography, advertising, along with other fundamentals to establish a foundation in visual communication. Through the use of advanced electronic publishing and basic type fonts, students will create concepts and images that will sell products, brand companies, and sway ideologies. Artistic theoretical frameworks will be analyzed and hands-on projects critiqued in order to foster artistic growth. Students are exposed to animation, technology, Web design, and mass media. Internships are encouraged and upon graduation many students may occupy entry-level positions with corporations like public relations firms, design studios, ad agencies, and business communication departments. Creative thinking skills are honed along with problem solving abilities and sharpened artistic vision. Team projects enhance peer communication and help students produce work that is aesthetically pleasing, persuasive, and clear. Students will graduate with their Bachelor of Fine Arts in Advertising and Design degrees knowing they have a solid background in advertising design and some will further their educations by continuing with upper level graduate work in related fields.
