Bachelor of Fine Arts in Motion Pictures and Television

Today, entertainment is an industry that is a truly global endeavor, and it encompasses a wide variety of mediums. Perhaps among the most well-known and oldest mediums in entertainment as it pertains to modern times are the areas of film and television. Many students have a strong desire to be in the entertainment industry, not as actors, but as producers, directors, editors, lighting directors, and more. One of the best ways to get a head start in the industry is to complete a Bachelor of Fine Arts in Motion Picture and Television Studies. This degree is an overarching four-year program that covers an extremely wide area of study, because most BFA programs in Motion Pictures and Television are highly interdisciplinary by nature. This means that students will be exposed to all facets of the field, including writing, storyboarding, camera and lighting, directing, and editing. Students will participate in group and individual projects, as well as have exposure to a wide range of liberal arts studies. They will become familiar with the history of a wide range of related subjects, including criticism, production, screenplay creation, and more. This degree program is a very hands-on program, and students will be required to write, direct, and produce original works of art as part of their portfolio and graduation requirements.
