A Bachelor of Science in Accountancy is a four-year degree program that emphasizes a wide variety of subjects within accountancy such as accounting information systems, governmental accounting, and corporate accounting. The curriculum is competitive, demanding, and rigorous and students learn how to think critically and employ efficient problem solving skills in addressing challenges. Students learn professionalism and strong communication skills because they engage in many hands-on projects that require them to interact with their peers, faculty members, and people in outside business communities. Leadership is stressed, too, and technical proficiency is enhanced along with ethical decision making. Teamwork is imperative along with writing abilities and public speaking. A Bachelor of Science in Accountancy develops tools that students will be able to take away upon graduation. Students are educated in accounting theories and apply these frameworks to real world situations. Upon graduation, students will be able to choose from many different career options and positions such as budget analysts, cost analysts, budget officers, CPA’s, certified financial managers, bank examiners, government auditors, enrolled agents, loan officers, treasurers, systems consultants, or tax accountants. Students may decide to further their educations after procuring their degrees and they can enter upper level Master or PhD degree programs.
