Bachelor of Science in Accounting/Public Accountancy

A Bachelor of Science in Accounting/Public Accountancy is a four-year degree program designed to educate students about accounting and is not limited to just public accounting. Students will hone the skills necessary to become knowledgeable in business arenas like macroeconomics, federal taxation, auditing, business law, marketing, and cost accounting. They will have a solid foundation in liberal arts coursework like the social sciences, communications, arts and humanities, and mathematics. This degree curriculum is formulated for students who want to be employed in the accounting industry upon graduation and who are skilled in computers and who enjoy math. Upon completion of a Bachelor of Science in Accounting/Public Accountancy program, students often find employment in non-profit sectors, consulting agencies, small businesses, government, education, corporations, private/industrial firms, and banking industries in a variety of positions. Critical thinking is imperative within accounting and accountancy along with strong problem solving abilities. Leadership is stressed as well as effective communication whether in written or oral form. Hands-on projects and public speaking engage students in interacting with their peers and faculty. They learn professionalism in their field, too. Students can continue their education after graduating with this degree by obtaining their master’s or PhD’s. This degree may serve as a pre-law undergraduate program.
