For many organizations, its workers are the most important asset they have. Properly utilizing, training, and pleasing a workforce are difficult problems that a bachelor of science in human resource management aims to solve. Students of the degree could learn many of the aspects important to human resources such as compensation, benefits, recruiting, retention, training, ethics, and legalities involving human resources issues. Students may also learn many fundamental business aspects such as marketing, sales, communication, finance, accounting, leadership, and organizational principles.
Those that have successfully completed the human resources management degree program may be ideally-suited to work in human resources departments. But there may also be other opportunities available that are a great fit with the techniques learned throughout the degree. Working for staffing and recruiting agencies could put to use many of the abilities learned, such as how to find great workers and utilize them effectively. There may also be opportunities in employee training programs working to develop the knowledge and techniques of workers to increase the potential of the workforce. Many for-profit, non-profit, and government organizations deal with high numbers of workers and therefore require those with a good understanding of how to manage those workers, the benefits they bring to the organization, and the benefits and compensation earned by them.
