Bachelor of Science in Leadership and Organizational Studies-Public & Nonprofit Management

Managing initiatives and workers within public and non-profit organizations involves unique challenges and knowledge. A bachelor of science in leadership and organizational studies with a concentration in public and non-profit management may be ideally-suited to teach students about those challenges and how to mitigate and flourish within them. A good foundation in theories of organization and groups will likely be essential to understanding the various problems and solutions that present themselves when working with teams of people. Once the theories are understood, students may need to develop strong critical thinking and analytical techniques so that they may be able to analyze problems and propose solutions. Lastly, students may acquire an understanding of the various public policies and regulations which are of great importance in the public and nonprofit sector.

With all of the knowledge from the bachelor of science in leadership and organization intact, graduates may be prepared to take on the responsibility of management for non-profit organizations and governmental agencies. More specifically, organization and leadership techniques are enormously important for careers in human resources. Supervising is also an important position within many public and non-profit organizations, and could involve many of the aspects of the degree program. Especially in the non-profit sector, events are important ways to recruit members to any cause and get the message of the organization out to the public, so event coordination may also be a great career choice for graduates of the degree.
