Today’s educators are no longer just core subject enthusiasts like historians, mathematicians, and English majors. The latter half of the last millennium saw the emergence of two critical developments in human history: art and technology. While art made its way quickly into our education structures, technology only began to see integration in the latest parts of the 20th century. Fast forward to the 21st, and we have entire degree programs dedicated to fueling technology with education.
A graduate certificate in computer education is a technology degree designed for future educators. The program covers educational fundamentals and pairs them with computer technologies. The result is an outline of coursework aimed at creating teachers that design and designers that teach. The certificate might be earned prior to, after, and even alongside a master degree program, most commonly sought in the same subject. This graduate program is intended to prepare students to teach at many levels of education using technology and computers as a primary resource. Grad students are taught developmental learning strategies that can be directly applied to a program or teaching application. As tablets, computers and other technologies emerge there must be educators to help facilitate the learning process. A graduate certificate in computer education could be such a facilitator.
