It's Your Education, Make an Informed Choice.

This online program is offered in select states for professionals with a bachelor’s degree who are interested in making a change from their current career to pursue one in education. Upon completion, students will be ready to become certified secondary teachers. Not only will students become proficient in nine areas of competency -- which are based on state and national professional standards -- they will also gain valuable knowledge about the educational industry (the laws surrounding it and the requirements for all teachers). Students will have a better understanding about what it means to be a teacher and really find out if education is the path they want to take professionally.

Program Objective

• By the end of this program, students will be able to plan instruction based upon students, knowledge of subject matter, research-based strategies, curriculum goals and the school/community context. Graduates will also select and implement appropriate informal and formal assessment strategies to evaluate and ensure a student’s academic, social and physical development.
• Graduates will obtain the tools to understand individual and group motivations and be able to use these skills to establish and maintain a positive learning environment for all students. Graduates will be able to plan and provide equitable learning opportunities for all students and discover how to support academic growth through developmentally appropriate learning experiences.
• Students will learn effective communication techniques as well as how to display ethical and professional behavior in the workplace. All graduates will learn how to foster positive and proactive relationships with not only students, but colleagues, school administrators, parents/caregivers and community agencies.
