English/Professional Writing Bachelor's

While obtaining an English degree, some students may wish to concentrate their studies in writing by working toward a professional writing emphasis. With a professional writing bachelor’s degree, students will not only learn to master the usual liberal arts and English studies in literature and language, but will learn to become an expert in almost all forms of writing. The concentration allows for students to study far more types of writing than they would otherwise be able to do with just an English degree, such as fiction, magazine writing, internet writing, business writing, technical writing, news reporting, and writing for books. And aside from traditional competencies in grammar and composition, students will also have opportunities to learn about professional editing and proofreading.

With specific writing studies in addition to an English liberal arts education, graduates of the program will be in a great position for many writing jobs including journalism, technical writing, editing, or content writing for the internet. Medical writing is also a popular field of writing for those that are proficient in its concepts and terminology. Since the degree program will impart practical experience with writing for many styles, your portfolio and career will be boosted toward any writing job that you seek.
