Medical Assisting Degrees

A medical assistant assists a physician in all areas of medical practice. This includes possibly assisting in minor surgical procedures, preparing treatment and examination rooms, taking vital signs and giving injections. Medical assistants are also responsible for billing, ordering supplies, maintaining patient records, scheduling appointments and handling insurance claims. Graduates of this program will have the skills needed to perform laboratory tasks including blood chemistry and urinalysis, as well as clinical skills including x-ray, patient assisting, venipuncture, EKG and vital signs. They will also know how to keep records on the computer, insurance procedures, charting and medical skills.
