The visual appearance of our surroundings can have a great effect on our frame of mind, and most people would choose to be inside an area that they find aesthetically pleasing. That’s why more people are turning to interior decorators to help them create functional and pleasing environments at work and at home. People who are interested in creating pleasing interior environments for a hobby may want to turn that talent into a paying career by enrolling in a program to complete an Interior Decorator Certificate. An interior decorator certificate program will give students a chance to expand their existing skill set and to learn new ones. Most programs takes between 12 and 16 weeks to complete. Some schools will allow certificate credits to be applied to their degree programs. Students will be exposed to a wide range of decorating education including color and light theory, and understanding materials and finishes. Students will also gain knowledge about human interaction in interior spaces, project presentation, and applied design principles. Students who complete an interior decorator certificate may find jobs in retail stores, design firms as associates, or they may choose to become their own boss and open up their own interior decorating company.
