The law and legal nurse consultant must work as a team when dealing with tort law and medical liability. This course will highlight the principles of tort law. Further, the class will address how tort law applies to personal injury practices.

Students will also discuss the issues of reform facing tort litigation and current standards of tort law. The course will pay particular attention to students' ability to evaluate issues such as informed consent, professional negligence cases and treatment decisions. Participants will review different defenses in negligence suits.
