Master of Fine Arts in Animation and Visual Effects
Many students, who are intrigued by delving deeper into 3D modeling and animation and who want to sharpen their digital skills through creativity, pursue their Master of Fine Arts in Animation and Visual Effects. This degree not only allows students to lay a solid foundation in technology, art, and design, it also stresses the importance of time management, professionalism, communication, problem-solving, and presentation. A Master of Fine Arts in Animation and Visual Effects typically takes two to three years to complete the program. Students are immersed in an animation curriculum that exposes them to compositing, 3-D modeling, storyboarding, visual effects, and much more. Additionally, students will learn technical areas of animation like lighting and rigging. Students are encouraged to compose their own unique and artistic profiles through selecting animation classes that most interest them and which will augment their current knowledge. Animation students also have chances to work with other people who are focused in television, film, and production design. Through their joint collaboration with students in other majors, animation students can learn more and be even better prepared to enter occupations such as graphic artists, storyboard artists, modelers, character animators, commercial animators, game artists, and effects artists. Many different schools offer a Master of Fine Arts in Animation and Visual Effects and an opportunity for animation students to further their educations by doing postgraduate work in an exciting and ever changing artistic field.
