Master of Science in Management: Homeland Security Management

UMUC's Master of Science in Management is designed for professionals who are assuming greater management responsibilities within their organizations. The program focuses on leading-edge management skills and technical expertise. There is a major emphasis on the effects of rapid technological change on organizations and administrative processes, and the consequent ethical and moral responsibilities of managers to society at large.

The Master of Science in Management - Homeland Security Management degree provides managers and practitioners with the background to prepare for and deal with a wide range of man-made and natural threats and vulnerabilities at the community and organizational level. This online degree program shows students how to perform security risk assessments and to develop strategies to mitigate threats to people, physical facilities, and information-dependent critical infrastructure, as well to plan for and manage operational recovery. This program will also explore the changing roles within various first responder communities regarding pre-event planning and post-event response.

Depending on a student's background and an employer's criteria, graduates of the Homeland Security Management specialization may qualify for these positions: Enterprise Chief Operation Officers; Facility and Plant Managers; Facility Security Officers; Military Planners; Federal, State, and Local Government Emergency Planners and Policy Makers; and Law Enforcement, Emergency, and Medical Practitioners and Administrators.
