Master of Science in Nursing-Nurse Midwifery
The UC MSN program is focused on providing excellent nurses to a world that craves their expertise. We understand the immense responsibility that comes with an MSN, where even the smallest decisions can save a life. That’s why UC has developed a program that fosters growth through an extraordinary support system. Enrollment Advisors and Program Managers facilitate a smooth transition to distance learning. An innovative Online Learning Environment and expert Preceptors help students apply principles in the real world. And Peer groups, Facilitators, and Professors prepare students to shoulder the responsibility of becoming leaders in their communities.
Midwives are independent nurse practitioners who are specialists in normal pregnancy, childbirth, and the postpartum—and they are in demand as an alternative to the traditional medical model of care. They help women have a healthy pregnancy and natural birth experience as well as provide continuing medical care to the woman and infant after delivery. Midwives also provide primary care throughout a healthy woman’s life span, from menarche to menopause.
Our graduates are prepared to take the American Midwifery Certification Board (AMCB) certification exam after learning the latest techniques in our advanced curriculum, and applying these principles in a clinical setting of their choosing. With our dedicated support system there every step of the way, our graduates are prepared to make a significant impact in their community from day one.
