The Professional Accounting major is designed to provide students with the knowledge, skills and abilities necessary to a successful accounting career. Tools and techniques of planning, control, and decision analysis (including computer applications) are developed in broad areas such as financial and managerial accounting, income taxes, business law, cost analysis, computer auditing, and information systems.The professional accounting major provides a student with the analytical foundation to excel as a Certified Public Accountant (CPA), internal auditor, financial manager, controller, and consultant. Students interested in becoming CPAs should check the educational requirements in their states. In most cases, a student will combine a 120 credit undergraduate degree with a graduate degree program. These students may be interested in pursuing the combined Bachelor of Science/Master of Business Administration in Accounting program.
