Undergraduate Certificate in Software Engineering

UMUC's Undergraduate Software Engineering Certificate is intended for professionals who will be working in a team environment while developing large-scale software projects. Students learn about the methods used in the systematic design, development, testing, and maintenance of software products. They study models used to specify requirements, strategies used in software development, and methods of testing and formal verification. Note: Two semesters of Java or C++ programming are prerequisites to the certificate coursework.

Core coursework includes: Software Engineering Principles and Techniques, Software Safety, Object-Oriented Design and Programming, Requirements Development, Software Design and Development, and Software Verification and Validation. This certificate requires 18 semester hours to complete.
