Job growth for professions requiring an Associate degree or higher is projected to be 8.8% between 2021 and 2031, which is faster than average.ii For those with a high school diploma, however, job growth is projected to be slower than average at 2.9%.ii

The unemployment rate for workers with a high school diploma was 6.2% in 2021. For those with a Doctoral or Professional degree, the average unemployment rate was 1.7%.iii

Take the First Step

You don’t have to set your sights on a Bachelor’s degree—the Bureau of Labor Statistics cites and tracks nearly 100 occupations that require only an Associate degree, post-secondary certificate, or some college courses to jump in at entry level.v

Over 65% of these occupations are projected to grow between 2021 and 2031.v The BLS predicts that during that time, there will be 117,800 new job openings for Medical Assistants, 72,900 for Preschool Teachers, 64,900 for Nursing Assistants, and 56,400 for Computer Support Specialists.v
