There are many military friendly colleges in Kentucky. According to the VA, in 2017, 138 Kentucky schools received Post 9 / 11 GI bill funds for over 6,686 students. The total funds were over $46 million dollars.

There are six programs that offer benefits for veterans’ education. If eligible, these six programs may be used to help fund your college education.

These 15 military friendly colleges in Kentucky are listed based on the total amount of Post 9/11 GI Bill benefits awarded in the 2022 / 2023 school year. All of the data cited from the National Center for Education Statistics. Many of these schools take part in the Yellow Ribbon Program, a part of the Post 9/11 GI Bill. Under the Yellow Ribbon Program, the schools and the VA pay the tuition and fees that are not paid for by the GI Bill.

The UK Student Veterans Association (UKSVA) is comprised of student vets and dependents dedicated to the advancement, education, and support of all veterans that attend and work at UK.

The University’s Office of Military and Veteran Student Services (OMVSS) works with departments across campus to help vet students get answers to their questions. 

U of Louisville takes part in the Yellow Ribbon Program by offering 15 undergrad students an unlimited max contribution per year; 5 grad students an unlimited max contribution per year; and 5 students at the Brandeis School of Law an unlimited max contribution per year.

EKU offers a reduced Active Duty rate and priority registration. The school has both an active EKU VETS Club and SALUTE National Honor Society Chapter on campus.

EKU is part of the Yellow Ribbon Program by offering 20 undergrad students up to $5,000 per year; 10 grad students up to $6,000 per year; and an unlimited number of students at the EKU eCampus an unlimited max contribution per year.
