Colleges with high acceptance rates may offer a glimmer of hope. Especially if your grades threaten to keep you from going for a degree. For this reason we’ve put together a list of higher education partners that may have acceptance rates of up to 100%. This can come in handy if you’re seeking a new start in college.

3 THINGS YOU SHOULD KNOW ABOUT COLLEGE ACCEPTANCE RATES

Harvard University accepted just 5% of applicants in 2016. Then again, there are many schools that take a more all around approach to admissions. Schools with high acceptance rates may be less selective. But all things considered that also means they’re more willing to see potential in students with less than perfect academic backgrounds. With that said, here are three things you should know.

1. ACCEPTANCE RATES MAY VARY

First, some schools, like the University of Scranton, may have higher early acceptance rates. This means it might make sense to get your application in ASAP. Second, other schools, like UNC Chapel Hill, may have lower acceptance rates for out of state vs. in state applicants.

As a result, it is wise to compare state schools vs. out of state schools. As well as various campuses in the same school system. That way you can find colleges with acceptance rates that suit your goals. In summary, build a list of potential schools. Then list out their acceptance rates and policies. Things to consider. Should you go in state? Should you go early admissions? Lastly, what types of schools should you consider?

2. CONSIDER PRIVATE COLLEGES

For the most part, smaller private colleges can have higher acceptance rates than larger public universities. Especially compared to well known public, flagship schools. In short, put private colleges on your list. Additionally, applying to regional public schools is another path to consider. And don’t miss out on online colleges. In fact, many of them are more inclusive. In summary, check out all of your options. As shown above, you have more options than you might think!

3. DON’T JUST LOOK FOR THE EASIEST COLLEGES TO GET INTO

First, look for good colleges with high acceptance rates together with schools that suit your personal and professional goals. Then evaluate the programs and resources the school has to offer. This way you make sure you can see yourself doing well there. In general, you want a combo of easy and fits.

Finally, consider applying to a few schools. Also include “reach” schools. So as to give yourself the best chance of finding the school that’s right for you. In effect, when you do multiple apps, you can have the schools compete for you. All in all it is good to have choices. In summary, balance easy with fit and include reach. This gives you a good starting list.

HOW IS COLLEGE ACCEPTANCE RATE CALCULATED?

Simply put, college acceptance rate is the number of accepted students at a college, then divided by that school’s total number of applicants. For example, if 37,000 students applied to a college and just 3,700 got in, then that school would have a 10% acceptance rate.In short, super popular schools can have a lower rate. As shown above, you might have a better chance with a regional school, online school, or a private college.
